Washoe County sales tax of 8.265% took effect April 1 and citizens voted with their wallet. While statewide sales tax revenue rose 4.6 in April, Washoe  dropped 3.8%. Most importantly car sales plunged 8.6%. May and beyond revenue rebounded sluggishly in Washoe an average 5.3% thru July. About consistent with County growth. Meanwhile Lyon, Carson and even Winnemucca saw major boosts in revenue including booming car sales. 46.7% boost in April in Lyon County for example.
